Terra Botanica, the great plant adventure

For its fourth season, Terra Botanica is diversifying its activities with monthly themed events.

The first park devoted to plants, this 11 hectare space, at the gates of Angers, is organized around four universes:

  • the coveted plant
  • the generous plant
  • the mysterious plant
  • the tame plant

Terra Botanica, the great adventure

Explorers for a day, visitors - young and old alike - roam these spaces dotted with around forty attractions: a ride on the water in an electric “barge”, in the air aboard a pedal nut shell , multi-sensory theater and other playful or interactive scenographies.

Among the most spectacular, a 4D projection that takes the viewer, on a mobile chair, on the unsuspected journey of two drops of water from the sky to the earth, via photosynthesis in the heart of a magnolia!

Before that, the adventure will have started in the XVIIIe century, on the docks of a port where precious spices and medicinal plants are unloaded. Immersed in the atmosphere of the greatest maritime and scientific expeditions, we evolve in a greenhouse and then cross the Atlantic in the Tempêtarium alongside the explorer Alexandre Von Humboldt and the botanist Aimé Bonpland.

In the universe of generous plants, the local horticultural history, which includes eminent botanist figures (King René, Louis de Vilmorin ...), is not forgotten, with a course on medicinal crops, roses and vines of Anjou. We also discover vegetable gardening practices with water-based entertainment and machines.

For its part, the Mysterious Plant area invites a more scientific discovery of plants, penetrating the heart of cells and going back to the origins of life on Earth.

The visit ends with the theme of Tamed Plants, where we learn about the work of horticulturalists and landscapers. The opportunity to learn more about horticultural practices (grafting, cuttings, layering, division, selection…) before going to devour a tasty vegetal “hamburger” at the Eco restaurant VF created by the Angevin starred chef Pascal Favre d 'Anne, a former pupil of Marc Veyrat.
